Documentaries following kid athletes

I AM Sport was a short video documentary series I helped create to tell the inspiring stories of kid athletes.

The Content Innovation team I work on at USA Today won the Gannett Innovation Challenge for this project.

Being an athlete is hard. It requires sacrifice and dedication. We wanted to create a channel for kid athletes to find inspiration from each other.

I shot three videos pilots that were as a blueprint across the USA Today Network of newspapers.

For the pilot videos, we profiled a female football kicker, an X-Games skateboarder and a young cowboy.

They come from compleatly different background. What they have in common is their dedication, drive and love for their sport.

Photographers at three other USA Today Network properties created their own version of these stories in their local markets.

The videos earned over 1.2 million views on Youtube and quickly built up over 2.43K subscribers to the channel.
