Photo Essay: Aftermath of a Shooting
Jovanna Calzadillas and her husband Frank Calzadillas wait for friends and family in a food court at Disneyland. Jovanna severely wounded in a mass shooting in Las Vegas that left more than 50 people dead. Frank Calzadillas uses a hair straightener on his wife Jovanna Calzadillas' hair while getting ready to go to physical therapy. Since the Jovanna was shot Frank has had to learn how help her do her hair and makeup. Jovanna Calzadillas is helped into a pool during physical therapy. Jovanna Calzadillas works with physical therapist Patty Briody at the Barrow Center for Transitional Neuro- Rehabilitation. She is learning to walk again after being shot in a mass shooting in Las Vegas. Frank Calzadillas and his wife Jovanna Calzadillas play with their daughter, Ariel. Jovanna Calzadillas wipes tears from her eyes while watching balloons disapear into the sky during a balloon release to honor the 48 people killed in a mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. She was severely wounded in the attack. She said when she was watching the balloons fly away she was thinking that she could have been one of those balloons. Frank Calzadillas his wife, Jovanna, go down the stairs of their home as they get ready to go to physical therapy. Jovanna attends physical therapy four days a week. Jovanna Calzadillas reacts to the outpouring of support from the community she grew up in during a community gathering at Hayden High School to support her and her family on the one year anniversary of the day she was shot in a mass shooting. Jovanna Calzadillas walks with the help of an exoskeleton at the Barrow Center for Transitional Neuro- Rehabilitation.
