Pat Shannahan is a decorated photojournalist, documentary filmmaker, and motion graphics artist with over 20 years of experience in digital journalism. He has worked for notable publications such as USA Today, The Arizona Republic, and The Vicksburg Post.
During his tenure as a senior photojournalist and videographer at The Arizona Republic, he won 13 Rocky Mountain Emmys for his video work, was twice named Arizona Photojournalist of the Year, and played an instrumental role in a Pulitzer Prize-winning project on the border wall.
As a senior content strategist for USA Today’s Content Innovation Team, Pat helped spearhead the virtual reality initiative and mastered Google AMP Stories (now known as Google Web Stories) while the digital story format was still in its developmental phase. He co-produced the hit podcast “The Sneak” and produced several documentaries that have been showcased at film festivals.
Pat currently serves as a creative director at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where he merges creativity with purpose. Working with a talented team of storytellers and designers, he helps communicate the impactful work of St. Jude to the world.
Two decades in the field have taught him that everyone has a story to tell. He believes that the best stories often emerge from the most unlikely places and that we all share more similarities than differences.
