Animating with Trapcode Form in After Effects

This is a logo animation I made in After Effects while experimenting with Red Giant’s Trapcode Form.

The plug-in has a really cool fluid dynamics feature. It allows me to make a particle system out of obj models, text, or in this case a vector graphic.

Then the fun starts.

Form’s fluid dynamics allow you to move the particles as if they are in water. You can even set up multiple systems that react to each other.

The built in interface is super easy to use.

To get this effect started with the phoenix graphic and had fluid dynamics warp the particles. Then I reversed the layer so that it animated from warped to complete.

After that I added some text animations, glows and a few fiery looking particles to reenforce the fiery look I was going for.

Pretty cool tool. I’m looking forward to using the fluid dynamics more. I think it could be useful for logo animations, making interesting background in After Effects and adding some design touches.
