Creating an Earth and Mars in After Effects

Experiment: Earth and Mars made with Video Copilot plugin Orbs

 I love that there are some many cool people in the After Effects community willing to share their genius with the rest of the world.

Case in point is Andrew Kramer of Video Copilot. He’s released a free plugin called Orbs for making planets in After Effects. It’s very cool and super handy. I went through his tutorial using Earth high maps and textures and then made my own version from NASA maps of Mars.

I can think of a ton of uses for this from motion graphics to a sci-fi scene. I’m looking forward to experiementing with this more.
